Shift in summer program offerings

This summer, Tacoma Public Schools will not offer its own in-person, summer programs for students in grades 3-8. Instead, students can take advantage of free, online learning opportunities and paid in-person programs offered both by Metro Parks Tacoma and Boys & Girls Club. Learn more about summer programs below. 

Jump Start for 6th Grade and 9th Grade

Jump Start helps incoming students feel confident and ready for success in school.  In August, Jump Start programs will be offered for students entering 6th and 9th grade only. There is no kindergarten Jump Start this summer. Learn more about each program below.

In addition to summer programs through our schools, the Foundation for Tacoma Students partners with community organizations to offer a wide variety of summer activities. Explore this interactive site and find fun summer learning opportunities to fit all students and all budgets.

Pierce County Skills Center

CTE Engineering Program - Robotic Arm

A variety of career and technical classes are offered. Students can choose from a catalog of course options and can earn .5 credits per session. Registration is through the Pierce County Skill Center.
