Grant Family Message 9.20.26

Dear Grant CEA Families,

Autumn begins this Tuesday, September 22nd, and the air has that crisp cleanness of the fall. I hope you have a beautiful walk under the oaks at Ruston Way, or stroll past the maples at Wright Park with your family this week.

Back to School Night this Tuesday

Tuesday is also our Back-to-School Open House Night! 5th grade families will meet in the library at 5:30pm. TTK-4th grade families will come through the front doors at 6pm. Stop by your students' classrooms, see what they have been working on, and enjoy some community time.

Beyond the Bell starts Monday!

There are still some spaces for Beyond the Bell at Grant CEA. Programming takes place from 3:30-5:30. Our new site manager is named Ms. Alina Tuarsheva. Please welcome her and the new team of BTB partners.

Keeping students safe at school

We all have a role to play in keeping our schools safe.

  • Bullying is not tolerated. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation can take many forms, including online posts, and verbal or physical acts. Report harassment, bullying or intimidation here.
  • Schools are weapon-free, drug-free, tobacco-free, and alcohol-free zones
  • Threatening a school is a crime. Any threat to a school, student, or staff member is taken seriously. If you see something, say something. We encourage everyone in our community who sees or hears a threat to call 911 and notify the school.

When should kids stay home from school?

Take a look at our website for tips to understand when students are too sick to be at school and when they can return to normal activities.

If you're looking for a healthcare resource, MultiCare and SeaMar offer school-based clinic services to all Tacoma Public Schools students. The clinics are at Mount Tahoma High School and Lincoln High School. Get more information about the services they offer and when:

Please complete CNEEB form

Have you completed the CNEEB application? I’m asking all families to complete the application before Oct. 1. It's used to help decide how money is distributed across the school district, including our school. It can also impact families directly by reducing fees for athletics, before and after school programs, and college applications. Complete CNEEB form.

Have a wonderful week! Please, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Dr. Daw
